On Sunday Cumberland Police responded to a private residence on Columbia Street in Cumberland for a reported sexual assault. When Officers arrived, the 27 year old female victim advised that her estranged husband had broken into her home and had forced her to engage in sexual intercourse while threatening her with a knife. The victim further advised that the suspect remained in the home for the remainder of the evening and forced her to engage in intercourse 2 or 3 more times. The suspect threatened to kill the victim if she reported the incident to the police.

The following morning, the victim stated she was able to convince the suspect that she needed to go to the store to purchase items. The suspect allowed her to leave. As soon as the victim reached her vehicle she called 911 to report the incident. When the suspect saw her on the phone, he fled the residence prior to the arrival of Officers.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) also responded to assist in the investigation. Investigators discovered a window in the victim’s residence that the suspect had opened the screen in order to gain entry. They also recovered the knife used by the suspect.

As a result, Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for 30 year old Glenn Eugene Westfall, Jr., of Cumberland. He was arrested on 04/29/2104 and charged with 1st Degree Rape, 1st Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Assault, and related charges.

Westfall was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bond pending his next court appearance.
