Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot was in Cumberland Wednesday afternoon to present the first of the state’s “William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award”. The award, named after the late governor, Mayor of Baltimore and Comptroller, was presented to Adrienne Ottaviani at her downtown business- Ristorante Ottaviani. The honor will recognize individuals and organizations in each county and Baltimore City best exemplifying Schaefer’s lifelong commitment to helping people. Ottaviani has served Allegany County as a member of its Board of Education, as a County Commissioner, and currently as executive director of the Maryland Coal Association.
