Winter weather leads to 8 vehicle accident on I-68

On Tuesday at approximately 1100 am a brief snow storm passed through the Town Hill area of Allegany County. It immediately and adversely affected the road conditions on I-68 particularly from Orleans Road to 15 Mile Creek. Troopers from the Cumberland Barrack responded to handle (8) motor vehicle accidents and several disabled vehicles. The Maryland State Highway Administration responded with salt trucks and sign boards. Troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to assist with traffic as W/B I-68 was closed for approximately 2 hours while the accidents were cleared up. 2 persons from one vehicle were transported to the Western Maryland Health System for minor injuries.
