WMHS Will Transition ‘Meals on Wheels’ to HRDC

The Western Maryland Health System has announced that it is working with the Allegany County Human Resources Development Commission (HRDC) to transition its Meals on Wheels participants over to the home delivery meal program operated by HRDC as of October 15.  The Meals on Wheels program at WMHS currently serves about 25 city residents, and those participants can be accommodated by HRDC, which provides home delivered meals throughout Allegany County.  Participants have been notified about the change, and HRDC is assisting them with enrollment so that there should be no interruption in the delivery of their meals. Mark Sullivan, Vice President of Human Resources and Mission Services at WMHS, said that the number of participants in the Health System’s program has been declining in recent years and it was felt that HRDC has such an outstanding program that the duplicative service was no longer necessary.
