On March 31st, 2020 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a South Cedar Street address for a reported assault. Upon officers arrival they spoke with a victim who stated that Jennifer Jane Shoap had struck her in the face with a closed fist. The victim had an apparent injury to their face consistent with their statement. Shoap was then placed under arrest for assault second degree and taken before a District Court Commissioner. Shoap was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond pending her trial.
