Work Moving Forward To Finalize Contract Terms For Maryland Ave Redevelopment Project

The city of Cumberland, the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation and Frederick-based developer Cumberland Gateway are continuing to work toward finalizing contract terms for the Maryland Avenue Redevelopment Project.  The plan calls for removing 68 properties in the city's Rolling Mill neighborhood- with the target area located between Maryland Avenue and Park Street and Emily and Williams streets- to create room for commercial development. The project is being administered by the CEDC with the property being transferred to Cumberland Gateway. CEDC executive director Paul Kelly said that he is working closely with the developer to finalize the various target dates for the project and can’t comment further at this time.
