January 19th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Maryland State Police arrested a suspected felon after he eluded troopers and tried to hide this morning in a Frederick County doctor’s office. The suspect, Israel H. Logan, 20, of Inwood, West Virginia, was taken to a hospital for observation before being transferred to the Frederick County Detention Center. He is being charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a firearm under the age of 21, possession of a handgun in a vehicle and related charges.

Shortly after 10:40 a.m., troopers from the Frederick Barrack initiated a traffic stop on the driver of a black 2014 Buick Verano for an equipment violation at northbound Rt. 15 at Patrick Street in Frederick, Maryland.  The vehicle was occupied by a female driver, a female in the front passenger seat and a male in the rear passenger seat.

During the traffic stop, the trooper ordered the occupants out of the vehicle for a probable cause search for drugs. The male passenger, later identified as Logan, locked his door, opened the driver’s side passenger door and attempted to run away.  The trooper pursued the suspect to a medical building in the 100 block of Baughmans Lane in Frederick and created a perimeter.

After backup and a K-9 unit arrived, troopers began to search the building.  Logan was located in a doctor’s office, hiding in an exam room, in his underwear.  The suspect’s clothes were located in a bathroom stall.

Along with Logan’s clothes, a stolen, loaded .22 H&M revolver, cellphone and 15.7 grams of suspected marijuana were taken into evidence.  Logan, who has two open warrants from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office for first-degree assault and armed robbery, was taken into custody without further incident.

No one in the doctor’s office was injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
