A 23 year old Preston County woman has been charged with the first degree murder of her husband and concealing a deceased human body.
West Virginia State Police say Nicole Knotts is being held without bond in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail after an investigation into the disappearance of Matthew Knotts. Troopers say Matthew Knotts employer said he hadn't shown up for work in several weeks, and that Nicole eventually admitted to shooting him during an argument on Thursday a week ago.
Police say Nicole initially told them that Matthew had left with a girlfriend from Garrett County, and allegedly made a phone call to the employer saying she was the girlfriend and that he was okay. The body was found inside the bathroom of the home, hidden behind a pile of clothes and household items.
Troopers say they found about a gallon of kerosene and a propane tank nearby.
