Yet another poll see Hogan with high approval ratings

October 7th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Another poll finds Gov. Larry Hogan with a high approval rating, but this poll also offers an indication of his re-election prospects. Like other polls, the Washington Post/University of Maryland poll of 906 Marylanders gives Hogan a 71 percent approval rating.

The poll also finds that 75 percent of registered voters agree with Hogan's decision not to support Donald Trump's bid for the presidency..

Unlike other polls, this poll asks voters about the next gubernatorial election in two years. It found that just 46 percent of those surveyed say they would vote for Hogan, a Republican, while 30 percent say they would vote for the Democratic candidate, and 22 percent had no opinion.

The biggest obstacle for those Democrats considering a run for governor is name recognition. About three quarters of those surveyed had no opinion on Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker, U.S. Rep. John Delaney or Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.

Democratic voters outnumber Republcian voters in Maryland by a 2-to-1 margin.
