YMCA Interim Director Approved

April 10th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The YMCA of Cumberland is pleased to introduce Julie O’Neal as the interim CEO. Julie currently serves as the CFO and brings 21 years of Y experience to her new position. The Board of Directors looks forward to working with Julie to restructure leadership and reposition the Y to better serve the community.

The Y would also like to thank Don Enterline for his seven years of tireless service. Under Don’s leadership, the Y has increased many of its community-based activities such as active older adult programs and the Diabetes Prevention Program. He was also instrumental in initiating more affordable, community-focused membership fees.

The Y is a 501(c)(3) (non-profit) organization and has been part of the fabric of the community since 1873. The Y provides many free and subsidized programs to at risk children and families, life skills and housing for disabled and homeless men and women, Reach and Rise mentoring for youth, before and after school care, and numerous programs to keep our large senior population active and healthy. The Y also provides many opportunities for the community to stay active year-round by offering an array of youth and recreational programs.

Under Julie’s new leadership, the Y will be hosting Dragons on the Lake, a signature event coming in September. The 46-foot dragon boats will hold teams comprised of 20 paddlers and one drummer who will take to the waters at Rocky Gap for a unique team-building experience for ages 12 and older. Participants as well as spectators are invited to cheer on their favorite team and enjoy live music and food and beverages.
