Allegany College of Maryland to Host 51st Annual Tri-State College Night

On Tuesday, October 9  Allegany College of Maryland will host the 51st Annual Tri-State College Night in the gymnasium from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  The event is sponsored by the Allegany County School Counselors’ Association and strives to help high school students make educated decisions about post-secondary plans.

            Once again this year there will be a financial aid presentation just prior to the event at 6 p.m. in ACM’s theatre. Financial aid staff from both Allegany College of Maryland and Frostburg State University will present information.

            The Tri-State College Night provides students and parents with an opportunity to explore various colleges, universities, and career and technical schools as well as branches of the military and their service academies.  More than 70 of these schools and military organizations will be represented at this year’s event.  Over the years, this annual event has attracted students and parents from Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania in search of information that will help them make solid education and career plans after graduation.

            Four high school students attending the event will be awarded, by random drawing, scholarships ranging from $350 to $750 for a total of $2,200 to help them further their education.  Two $350 scholarships will be awarded to high school juniors and two $750 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors. 

               The colleges, universities, career and technical schools, and branches of the military that have indicated their participation at the Tri-State College Night are as follows:  Alderson Broaddus University, Allegany College of Maryland, Alvernia University, Bluefield College, Caldwell University, California University of PA, Capitol Tech University, Carlow University, City of Cumberland of Police Department, Clarion University of PA, Davis and Elkins College, Dickinson College, Duquesne University, Eastern Mennonite University, Fairmont State University, Frostburg State University, Garrett College, Geneva College, Hagerstown Community College, Hood College, LaSalle University, Liberty University, Longwood University, Loyola University of Maryland, Lycoming College, Marymount University, McDaniel College, Mercyhurst University, Mount Aloysius College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Notre Dame of Maryland University, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University, Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Point Park University, Potomac State College of West Virginia University, Radford University, Robert Morris University, Saint Francis University, Salisbury University, Seton Hill University, Shenandoah University, Shepherd University, Shippensburg University, Slippery Rock University, St. John’s College, Stevenson University, Towson University, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Naval Academy, UMBC, University of Maryland College Park, University of Baltimore, University of Lynchburg, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, University of Pittsburgh Greensburg, Virginia Commonwealth University, Washington College, Washington and Jefferson College, Waynesburg University, West Liberty University, West Virginia Wesleyan College, Wheeling Jesuit University, Widener University, Wilson College, West Virginia University, and York College of PA.
