Arthur Friedland Owner Of Tots to Teens Childrens Clothing Store Passes Away

Arthur F. Friedland, 99, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017.

Along with his wife Bernice, Arthur owned and operated Tots to Teens children's clothing store on Centre Street in downtown Cumberland for 38 years and was an active and respected member of the community.

A longtime member of the B'er Chayim Temple in Cumberland, Arthur served as temple president several times and played a variety of leadership roles in the synagogue. An active member of the Downtown Business Association, Arthur was the president of the group and a member of many committees. He was also a member of the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 113 and the Cumberland Lions Club. Arthur was a member of a breakfast club that met at Mark's Daily Grind restaurant on Baltimore Street. He was so revered by the members of the group and the staff of the restaurant, that they have a special chair for him with a name plaque placed upon it.

Friends will be received at the B'er Chayim Temple, 107 W Union St, Cumberland, on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Temple at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Temple members and family and friends are welcome to attend additional services at B'er Chayim Temple downtown on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, and Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017, at 7 p.m. The family has requested their friends and family members refrain from sending flowers. Those who wish to honor Arthur's memory may do so by making contributions to the Allegany County Library, 31 Washington Street, Cumberland, MD 21502 or to the Library at Allegany College of Maryland, 12401 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
