Baltimore Co. Delegate Adrienne Jones Lobbying For Speaker’s Position

April 17th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Funeral services for Maryland House Speaker Michael Busch were held Tuesday- and as is often the case in politics- it did not take long for the scramble to succeed him get underway in earnest.  Busch passed away Sunday, April 7th, the day before the 2019 session of the General Assembly closed.  Speaker Pro Tem Adrienne Jones, a Democratic delegate from Baltimore County, guided  lawmakers through the process of passing bills and finishing their work for the year, and she is viewed by many as the most obvious choice as the next speaker.  She’s been a member of the House since 1997 and speaker pro tem since 2003.  Jones is lobbying for the speaker’s position, telling WBAL Radio she feels most prepared  to help carry out the late Speaker’s  agenda…
