Board of Education Votes to Keep Blank for 2020-2021

By a unanimous vote Wednesday afternoon, the Allegany County Board of Education approved appointing Jeff Blank as interim Superintendent from July 1, 2020 through June 30th 2021. Blank has been serving in the interim capacity since last summer when David Cox resigned- however his current contract runs only through June of this year and the board had initiated a search for a permanent superintendent in March. With the COVID-19 pandemic making it increasingly difficult to conduct a national search by the July 1 deadline- and with advice from a number of outside sources-  the board voted in special session to ask Blank to continue in the role beyond June. The appointment is pending the approval of the state superintendent. The motion to approve the extension was made by board member Deb Frank, seconded by Ed Root with Tammy Fraley, Robert Farrell and David Bohn all voting in the affirmative.
