Body Found Near Little Orleans

Maryland State Police homicide investigators are investigating the death of an individual whose body was found lying down an embankment off of a dirt road in the southeast portion of Allegany County last night.

The body is that of an adult.  Troopers are working to identify the individual and notify family before releasing identification.

At 9:15 p.m. last night, investigators from the C3I and the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit responded to the report of a body found in the area of Loop Pole Road in Little Orleans, Maryland. Responding troopers were contacted by campers in the area who discovered a decomposed body approximately 15-20 feet from the road, down an embankment that was approximately eight feet high. Troopers secured the scene and called for State Police crime scene technicians and Homicide Unit investigators.

Investigators observed possible trauma to the decomposed body.  The body, which was clothed, has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is being conducted by troopers from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, with assistance from the State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, Forensic Sciences Division, and investigators from C3I.
