BoE Could Be Considering Changes To Policy Pertaining To Nepotism

At the recommendation of new board president Robert Farrell, the Allegany County Board of Education may be considering abolishing or revising its policy pertaining to nepotism.  It was just one of a half dozen policy issues discussed during this month’s first meeting of the new school board- and like some of the others- there was debate. Farrell said he believes the current policy- while well intentioned- may actually be having the reverse effect of its intended outcome…

School Superintendent David Cox noted that developing a policy that addresses nepotism was one of the first charges given to him by the board when he was hired in 2009…
