CEDC Eyes Times-News Complex if Downsizing Continues

If or when the Cumberland Times News makes a decision to downsize its local offices- the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation is poised to take advantage of what officials view as a potential  tremendous opportunity.  The growth of social media has not been kind to the newspaper industry and the impacts have been felt locally. Last year the Times News made a number of personnel cuts  as well as the decision to cease publishing the newspaper at the South Mechanic Street location- transferring that part of the operation to Johnstown. The Times News complex-  located at the corner of Baltimore and Mechanic streets- could play an important part of the CEDC’s vision to improve the connectivity between the downtown mall and Canal Place. Executive Director Paul Kelly says one concept on the table would create a traffic stream from Pershing Street to the Shops at Canal Place…

    Oh boy! Mr. Kelly has lots of concepts, but no clues. The misadventures continue!

      Hmmm . . . create a traffic stream? Sounds like the road to nowhere. After over 2 decades of under-performance and at CP the ideas are flowing!
