City Man Charged With Protective Order Violation

Saturday afternoon, at 2:50 PM, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 700 block of Frederick St. for a check premises complaint. 

Prior to responding, officers were aware of pervious complaints at this residence, and were further aware of an active Protective Order keeping Matthew Norris from entering the property. Upon arrival officer found the door open at the residence and could not get a response from the occupants. 

Due to knowledge of previous incidents and the door being open, officers began checking the interior of the residence to ensure the safety of the occupants.  While inside the residence, officers located Matthew Norris, age 45 of Cumberland in a bedroom pretending to be asleep.  Norris was immediately arrested for violating the Protective Order. 

Norris was taken to the Cumberland Police Department where he was charged and processed. He was later taken to District Court for his Initial Appearance and released on his personal recognizance.
