Kelly will keep the city in the loop. Right. I’m sorry, is it me or does anyone else think it is strange that a person who went to law school and became a lawyer sees as his mission in life to be a low paid civil servant for the CEDC? This does not pass the basic smell test. People who have dealt with him claim he is massively ignorant about the issues he is supposed to be handling. The CEDC came into existence because of a well documented feeling that the County was unable / unwilling to meaningfully develop any business growth for CUMBERLAND. Now Cumberland will consolidate with the county and pay them for their failure to the tune of 300K a year. Does anyone else see a problem here? Asking for a friend . . .

I think this is the first step to closing out the city’s charter. It is no longer a city. The county knows it will eventually take over Cumberland. There is no need for the two governments. There are area five times the population that have one government. We need to do away with the piggy back tax and this is the first step.

wait a minute here… Forgive me if i’m wrong or not fully informed on this topic, but…
-WE, THE PEOPLE (& tax payers) OF CUMBERLAND Vote for & Elect Our Mayor & City Council to rep our best interests & manage the ‘business’ of our city
-The CEDC is a NON-PROFIT, NON-ELECTED BUSINESS – THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A REAL NOT 4 PROFIT-CHARITY ORG unless Everyone volunteers to work for free 100% of their $$ goes into serving their Mission Goals …

So, correct me if I’m wrong: Our City’s elected officials are No longer going to be in charge of &/or doing a job[or parts of] they’ve been elected to do & are being paid to do?
How is that Democracy in Action?
Cumberland, Allegany County and Maryland as a whole has been under the Rule & Domain of a select few for Too Long! We’ve slowly became the People’s Republic of MD ruled by rich elitists-Oligarcs & CROOKED, GREEDY, SELF-SERVING POWER HUNGRY CAREER POLITICIANS.

Stay Girl! You tell them like it is and they don’t want to hear. The TRUTH HURTS. It’s high time that the people stand up and DEMAND our elected officials do their job to the best of their ability or resign and let someone genuinely interested in doing it without quid pro quo. This is why politics is so poorly looked down on. It’s the self-serving greedy ones out there that give it a bad rap and name. CITIZENS Of CUmberland STAND UP, SPEAK OUT, AND BE HEARD. WE NEED TO MAKE CHANGES IN CUMBERLAND AND IN MARYLAND. PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT AND VOTE THESE FOLKS OUT OF OFFICE. A LAYMAN KNOWING VERY LITTLE WOULD BE BETTER THAN WHAT WE’VE GOT NOW.
