At approximately 918pm officers from the Cumberland Police Department were called to Union Street for a male subject causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and located Gary Lee Smith sitting on the steps to a business. Smith was asked by officers to leave the property, but Smith refused and continued to argue with officers. Officers attempted numerous times to get him to leave but he continued to argue and refused to leave. Smith was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Smith was later released from custody pending a trial in District Court.

The Cumberland Police Department served the following arrest warrants
Skyler Stone Atkinson, age 24 of Cumberland, MD
Charge: Assault 2nd Degree
Atkinson was charged by police after an incident that occurred on November 23rd, 2018 at an Eastern Avenue residence. He is accused of striking the female victim prior to leaving the residence. An application of charges was filed on Atkinson leading to the arrest warrant being issued. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and held without bond.
Joshua Lee Conrad Pettie, age 22 of Cumberland, MD
Charge: Assault 2nd Degree
Pettie was charged after police responded to an incident at a Baltimore Avenue residence on November 25th, 2018 where an assault occurred. Officers spoke with the victim and obtained information needed for charges. Pettie had left the residence prior to their arrival. An application of charges was completed leading the arrest warrant being issued. Pettie was processed and taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released pending trial.

Robert Lee Whetzel, age 62 of Westernport, MD

Charges: Failure to appear (2 counts)
Held on a $2,000.00 bond
