April 2nd, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The City of Cumberland’s Solid Waste and Recycling Collection continues to operate as scheduled during this pandemic. For the safety of the trash collectors, and the community as a whole, the City of Cumberland is asking all residents to bag their trash in garbage bags, intended for household waste, which shall be tied securely prior to being placed out on the curb for collection. The only items at this time that should not be bagged are comingled recyclables, which should be rinsed appropriately and placed in the burgundy recycling bin for collection. During this health emergency, trash collectors will not be responsible for removing loose trash from the bottom of trash cans. Resident’s cooperation with the appropriate disposal and bagging of trash during this time is vital to maintain a safer environment for the trash collectors.  Any questions regarding the City of Cumberland solid waste and recycling collection should be directed to Raquel Ketterman, the City of Cumberland’s Environmental Specialist, at 301-759-6604
