County Budget Deliberations Continue This Week

April 16th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Budget deliberations for the Allegany County Commissioners continue this week, with all three commissioners saying this is a very tough budget year.

Finance Director Jason Bennett said an increasing investment in EMS operations and communications equipment is something that has to be top of mind as the current budget is being considered…

Commissioner Creade Brodie Junior said it’s the toughest budget he’s had to consider since his first year in office, when several county positions were eliminated to bring the fiscal blueprint into balance.

The irony here is that they just heard a presentation from CHCO about needing funds to restore the damaged crypt of the founder of Carpenter’s Addition (now Carpendale). This man was a WV resident who founded a town in WV so people could live close to Md., but not have to pay taxes here. Naturally when he needed a final resting place he picked Cumberland. That anyone would consider funding something like this with TAX dollars is mind boggling. Anyone who votes to fund this needs to be forever removed from public office.
