Cumberland Man Arrested After Alleged Police Assault

On Saturday, just before 5:00 PM, Cumberland Police were dispatched to Queen City pavement for a fight in progress.

When officers arrived the fight had already dispersed. Officers began investigating the incident and contacted, Brandon Thomas, age 25, of Cumberland.  He was advised to leave the area due to being a part of the incident.  Thomas refused to leave and continued to create a disturbance in the area.  Subsequently, he was placed under arrest.

Following his arrest, Thomas became combative and assaulted an officer. There were no serious injuries to the officer.

Thomas was charged with failing to obey, disorderly conduct, and second degree assault. Thomas was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his Initial Appearance in District Court.
