DWI Alleged To Cause Sunday Morning Crash In Garrett County

Vehicle(s): 1999 White Pontiac Grand Am (Maryland registration FPC407)

Accused: Dakoda Robert Whittington, Age 18, Cumberland, Maryland

Charges: DUI/DWI, Negligent Driving

Disposition: Charged and released.

Narrative: On above date and time, Troopers from the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack were dispatched to eastbound I-68 at the 20 mile marker for a reported vehicle collision. Contact was made with the driver, Dakoda Whittington. Investigation revealed Whittington was driving a white, Pontiac Grand Am, bearing Maryland registration FPC407, in lane 2. Whittington lost control of the vehicle striking the right shoulder guardrail. The vehicle then crossed all lanes of eastbound I-68. The vehicle came to rest on the left shoulder. After contact was made with Whittington, a strong odor of an alcohol beverage was coming from Whittington’s breath and person. Whittington failed Field Sobriety Tests and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Whittington was charged on citations and released. All events occurred in Garrett County, Maryland.
