The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning consumers to stop using lithium-ion batteries for Rad Power Bikes e-bikes, model numbers RP-1304 and HL-RPS1304, because the batteries pose a risk of injury and death. The batteries can unexpectedly ignite and explode, especially when the battery or the harness has been exposed to water and debris. There have been 31 reports of fire, with damage totaling over $700,000. Some incidents occurred when the battery was not charging, not in use, and in storage.
