The Western Maryland Food Bank is seeing first hand the effects of no SNAP benefits being distributed for November. Director Amy Moyer talked to WCBC on Monday, saying that things have picked up considerably with those needing food. “We’re seeing a ton of people that are feeling the effects of not having their assistance. We’re seeing some government workers that aren’t getting paid and having to come ask for help for the first time. You know, it’s like going from being the donor to having to ask for assistance.”
WCBC Radio is continuing its $50 for the 50th For the Food Bank Campaign. Write a check to the Western Maryland Food Bank for $50 to honor the station’s anniversary – mail it to PO Box 1290 Cumberland. That amount is being matched by an anonymous donor up to $25,000.
