Fort Hill Historical Methods Class Announce Documentary Premier Date

April 15th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the Fort Hill High School Historical Research Methods class will premier their documentary “The Greatest Generation” at 6 p.m. in the school's auditorium. Tickets (available at the door) are $5 per person, and DVD copies of the film will be available for $10.

The Greatest Generation has had a profound impact on American history. Unfortunately, we are beginning to lose them. The Greatest Generation includes those who were born from the year 1910 to 1940 and experienced major events such as the Great Depression and World War II during the early years of their lives. This generation would be shaped by these great historical events and would go on to lead incredible lives of resiliency, service, and dedication to the community and nation that would have an unfathomable mark on history.

This documentary honors the lives of the following community members whose stories were compiled to create this film:

  1. Evelyn Adams – Cumberland, MD – Dairy/Horse Farmer
  2. Dick Bolt – Deep Creek Lake, MD – Ret. Apollo 11 NASA Engineer
  3. Kenneth May – LaVale, MD – Ret. Bell Telephone Co., Volunteer EMT and Firefighter – US Army National Guard
  4. Frederick Pfeiffer – Frostburg, MD – Ret. Cumberland City Firefighter, ABL Plant Security Supervisor – US Army
  5. David Roche – Cumberland, MD – Ret. Business Owner – US Marine Corp.
  6. Judy Snyder – Cumberland, MD – Ret. ACPS Teacher
