On Friday, July 18, 2025 at approximately 5:20 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 400 block of Goethe Street for a disturbance.  Police arrived on scene and learned that an assault had occurred.  Officers contacted an alleged victim who reported that he was assaulted by Preston McLaughlin.  Officers observed that the victim had sustained injuries from the assault.  McLaughlin was arrested and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  At the conclusion, he posted a $1,000 unsecured personal bond.
