One day after offering a preview of his budget in a news conference, and a meeting with legislative leaders, Governor Larry Hogan formally sent his $17.1 billion operating budget to lawmakers for consideration. The budget contains no tax increases and uses $177-million in the state’s rainy day fund to help eliminate a $544 million shortfall. The governor’s budget contains nearly $248 million in spending cuts to balance the budget. Those cuts were the focus of criticisms from Democrats this week.
