Gov. Hogan Sends Budget To Lawmakers For Consideration

One day after offering a preview of his budget in a news conference, and a meeting with legislative leaders, Governor Larry Hogan formally sent his $17.1 billion operating budget to lawmakers for consideration. The budget contains no tax increases and uses $177-million in the state’s rainy day fund to help eliminate a $544 million shortfall. The governor’s budget contains nearly $248 million in spending cuts to balance the budget. Those cuts were the focus of criticisms from Democrats this week. Budget Secretary David Brinkley said all of those issues are up for negotiation between the administration and lawmakers…
