Governor announces Crime Prevention funding details

The Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) has available funding for the FY19 Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (VIPP) that must be used by June 30th, 2019. Funding will be awarded for approximately 10 proposals, up to $100,000 each. GOCCP will accept white papers for this funding opportunity, due January 25th. The purpose of VIPP is to support effective violence reduction strategies, specifically gun violence, through evidence-based and/or evidence-informed health programs. “This is an important program that benefits the citizens of Maryland,” said GOCCP Executive Director, V. Glenn Fueston, Jr. “Awards from these grants support a broad range of statewide initiatives to provide victims services and reduce gun violence, critical to Maryland’s goal of safer communities.”

The Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention is also accepting proposals for 10 additional grant programs, totaling over $5.5 Million in available funding for law enforcement, crime prevention and victims services. These include:

  • Child Advocacy Center Services (CACS)
  • Community Program Fund (CGPF)
  • Domestic Violence Unit Pilot Program (DVUP)
  • Gun Violence Reduction Grant (GVRG)
  • Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)
  • Law Enforcement Training Scholarship Program (LETS)
  • Legal Services for Crime Victims Fund (LSCV)
  • Maryland Victims of Crime Fund (MVOC)
  • Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP)
  • Survivors of Homicide Victims Grant Program (SOHG)
