Combining the need to uplift men and boys in the state and a teacher deficit, Maryland Governor Wes Moore has committed $19 million dollars in grant funds to the “Grow Your Own Educators” program. Counties with a demonstrated plan to recruit and retain male educators can apply for money create pathways for non-licensed school staff to become teachers. State School Superintendent Dr. Carey Wright said the program is helping build a resilient workforce…
“Grow Your Own programs invest in people who are already connected to their communities and diversify the teacher workforce by recruiting candidates who reflect the students they serve.”
