Justice Suspends Elective Medical Procedures, Private Campgrounds

In a brief afternoon Coronavirus/COVID-19 update Tuesday- West Virginia Governor Jim Justice made a series of  new announcements-  and also offered some encouraging data when it comes to testing in the state. Justice began by announcing an executive order suspending all elective medical procedures effective as of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, March 31st.   In addition he said the state will be shutting down private campgrounds to all new arrivals from out of state. If you have been residing at a campground, you are encouraged to stay, but no new arrivals will be permitted. In addition the governor said he will offer any state assistance necessary to see that Williamson Hospital in Mingo County remains opened. That community hospital’s board announced on Monday that as a result of financial difficulties it is planning to close in April. On a more positive note, despite one of the more vulnerable populations in the country,   West Virginia’s percentage of those testing positive for the virus is among the lowest in the nation….
