Last Known Suspect Arrested For December Armed Robberies

With the arrest of the last known suspect, a total of four individuals have now been arrested for two armed robberies which occurred recently, the 12/25/2018 armed robbery at the Circle K convenience store on Oldtown Road in Cumberland, and the 12/30/2018 home invasion robbery which occurred on Grant Street in Frostburg.

On 12/25/2018, at approximately 12:50 AM, the Cumberland Police responded to the Circle K convenience store on Oldtown Road in Cumberland for a reported armed robbery. At that time Officers were advised that two suspects had entered the business and approached the cashier on duty. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The cashier complied and gave the suspects an undisclosed sum of cash. The suspects also took several cartons of cigarettes and other miscellaneous items.

The witness provided descriptions of the suspects and a possible suspect vehicle. A search was conducted, but the suspects were not located at that time.

On 12/30/2018, at approximately 8:40 PM, the Frostburg Police responded to a private residence on Grant Street in Frostburg for a reported home invasion robbery. Officers learned that three suspects had entered the residence. Two of the suspects displayed handguns. The suspects proceeded throughout the residence and stole cash, electronics, and cell phones, among other items.

While doing so, the suspects struck one of the victims several times in and about the head with a handgun. The victim was later transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center emergency room for treatment of their injuries.

The victims were able to provide descriptions of the suspects and a possible suspect vehicle. A search was conducted, but the suspects were not located at that time.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) conducted numerous interviews with witnesses to both incidents, and reviewed video surveillance as part of the follow up investigation into the incidents. Several search warrants were also obtained and served, and numerous items of evidence were recovered. As a result, Investigators were able to identify several suspects and were able to obtain arrest warrants for those identified.

Those charged were:

            David Darius Daughton, 22 years of age, of Cumberland, who was arrested recently in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on the charges obtained by C3I, and was returned to Cumberland on 01/22/2019. He has been charged with Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, and numerous related charges for the robbery which occurred at Circle K.

 

            He has also been charged with Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, 1st Degree Burglary, and related charges for the home invasion robbery which occurred on Grant Street in Frostburg.

 

            Daughton is currently being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Shamere Dandre Washington, 16 years of age (charged as an adult), of Cumberland, was charged with Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, and related charges for the robbery which occurred at Circle K.

 

            He has also been charged with Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, 1st Degree Burglary, and related charges for the home invasion robbery which occurred on Grant Street in Frostburg.

 

            Although charged as an adult, Washington is currently being held at a secure juvenile facility in Washington County.

Shannon Elizabeth Broadway, 20 years of age, of Cumberland, was charged with Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, 1st Degree Burglary, and related charges for the home invasion robbery which occurred on Grant Street in Frostburg.

 

            Broadway has posted bond and is currently free, pending her next court appearance.

            The fourth suspect arrested, 32 year old Marcus Logan Vaughn, of Cumberland, was arrested by the Hagerstown Police on 01/01/2019 on unrelated charges. It was at that time that Hagerstown authorities learned of an arrest warrant that had been obtained by C3I for Vaughn for the Circle K robbery. The warrant was forwarded to Hagerstown and was served by Hagerstown officers. That warrant charged Vaughn with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Theft, and related charges.

            C3I Investigators subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Vaughn for the home invasion robbery which occurred on Grant Street in Frostburg. Vaughn is being charged with Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, 1st Degree Burglary, and related charges in connection with that case. That warrant has been filed as a detainer against Vaughn, who is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center in Hagerstown.

            The investigation is continuing by C3I.
