During the question and answer period at the recent Maryland pre-legislative breakfast, Rob Colette of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce asked about what the delegation would be doing on behalf of the River Park project at Canal Place. The answer from Senator Mike McKay was that the group may have to search out funding on their own this year…
“My focus is $20 million dollars for Georges Creek. Period. We can talk about all these other different functions and that kind of stuff, but I have hurting people, hurting in District 1 in Allegany County. And as much as I want to have tourism and have people come here, I’ll be damned if I am going to have people with furnaces and hot water tanks that they can’t live in the homes they’re in.”
