Over 43,000 Marylanders- nearly 300 from Allegany County- filed unemployment insurance benefits claims last week. A total of 43,095 Maryland residents filed unemployment insurance claims in the week ending May 30, a decrease of 5,868 from the previous week. The unemployment numbers sharply increased the week ending in May 2 due to expanded filing under the federal CARES Act and the new website implemented by labor officials. The system had been subject to harsh criticism early on with those attempting to file running in to lengthy delays and an inability to get information about their cases. If a Maryland State department has a website it’s a given that it will not function as it should.
They must have the most inept personnel given the responsibility of making the website function.
It is not something that should be allowed to continue no matter how often they say that the issues are being addressed.
