Medical Marijuana operation moves from Grantsville to Cumberland

December 16th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports that Grow West MD received final approval Thursday to move its medical marijuana growing operation from Grantsville to Cumberland. The company will relocate to the Riverside Industrial Park on Kelly Road — the former Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. site that was last occupied by Biederlack of America. Grow West is owned by the Frederick County-based Valois family.

The Cumberland site gives the company 45,000 square feet of operational space. Initial plans call for 40 employees.

The company was approved in 2016 for a growing operation in Garrett County. After considering Accident, Oakland and a Keyser’s Ridge Business Park location, they chose a site in Grantsville.

The move to Cumberland comes after the company entered a lease-to-own agreement in June with Allegany County officials for the former Kelly building.
