M&T Bank Stadium Could Host World Cup Games

A delegation of officials from the FIFA World Cup attended the Ravens game Sunday night as Baltimore is one of 17 U.S. cities considered to host World Cup Soccer matches in 2026. M&T Bank Stadium would host the matches. Baltimore's effort to host the World Cup is co-chaired by Mayor Brandon Scott and Lt Governor Boyd Rutherford. Executive Director of Maryland's Sports Commission Terry Hasseltine said the delegation will visit other cities later this year and make a final decision on which city will host matches early next year. If chosen, Baltimore could be one of 10 cities that would host three to five matches, which Hasseltine said is, "the equivalent of hosting three to five Super Bowls in a matter of weeks.
