After gas prices remained relatively unchanged last week, Maryland drivers this week are seeing a slight reversal, as end of summer approaches. Increased crude oil inventories led to a drop in crude oil prices mid-week, assisting the decrease in gas prices.
Maryland’s gas average is four cents lower than the national average at $2.81 per gallon, which is two cents lower from last week, four cents less than last month, but 49 cents more than last year on this date. All metro areas across the state experienced price declines this week with the largest decrease, six cents, in Salisbury. Down a penny from last week, Cumberland still has the highest price in the state at $2.91
The national average price at the pump is $2.85 per gallon, which is two cents less in the last week and in the last month, but 51 cents higher than this time last year.
