Prices at the Pump Erratic in March

It has been madness at the pumps thus far for the month of March, as prices have been up, down, and back up again, with the pattern varying for different regions across Maryland. Today’s national gas price average is $2.53, which is unchanged in the last week, down one cent in the last month and 24 cents higher than this time last year.Maryland’s average is a penny lower than the national price at $2.52 per gallon, which is four cents less than last week and one cent less than last month, but 22 cents higher than last year’s price on this date. Annapolis, Baltimore, and the Maryland suburbs of Washington are experiencing a notable uptick in the price at the pump this week compared to other areas of the state in which prices are relatively stable. In Cumberland, the price remains among the highest at $2.66 a gallon.
