Remedial Math & English Skills Problem A State Wide Issue

Thousands of high school seniors across Maryland will be required next fall to do remedial work in math and English — even if they've passed those classes their entire student career — because they are not considered ready for college. As across the country, concerns have intensified in recent years in Maryland about college freshmen increasingly needing remedial math to get up to speed before they can enroll in true college-level math courses. Maryland Lt Governor Boyd Rutherford says the problem is state wide as many school systems  are advancing students, giving them passing grades,  even though they may lack basic math and reading skills…
