Potential Opioid Lawsuit subject of local meeting

Elected officials from Cumberland and Frostburg conducted a public meeting this week detailing the local impact of the nation's opioid epidemic and to discuss the details of joining a mass federal lawsuit against large pharmaceutical companies that have contributed to the problem.  Allegany County government, along with the cities of Cumberland and Frostburg, have joined with hundreds of other counties and municipalities around the nation in litigation against some of the country's largest opioid distributors and manufacturers, claiming the companies allowed excessive opioid prescriptions in order to gain profits leading to the current epidemic.  Allegany County Attorney Bill Rudd says the local numbers are alarming…
