At the July 16th school board meeting, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Mr. Richard King as the Interim Principal at the Center for Career and Technical Education for the 2019-2020 school year. King has served as the Assistant Principal at the Career Center for the past several years and will fill the vacancy left by Candy Canan, who was selected as the new principal at Fort Hill High School.

“I am excited and very honored to continue my career working at the Center for Career and Technical Education as the Interim Principal,” said Mr. King. “I look forward to the opportunity to continue the positive relationships I have built with the faculty, students, families, and community partners as we collaboratively work to develop students that are college and/or career ready.”

Mr. King earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and his Master of Education degree in Education, both from Frostburg State University. He has also completed additional coursework in administration and supervision through FSU and the University of Phoenix.

King began his career in Allegany County in 1997 as a special education teacher and during his tenure in ACPS has also held the position of assistant principal at Westmar High School, Fort Hill High School, and most recently at the Career Center.
