Sheriff’s Office Serves Bench Warrants On Several Charges

On Monday December 10th at approximately 9:30am Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to 38 Detmold Street in the town of Lonaconing to attempt to serve multiple warrants on Russell Leroy Michael. When deputies attempted to make contact with Michael he fled from the residence on foot. Deputies then requested assistance at the scene and began to search for Michael. Once additional resources arrived on the scene a coordinated search was initiated.

Deputies were assisted in their search efforts by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 5 and the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services K9 Division.  After an extensive land and air search Michael was located on Old Beechwood Road in Lonaconing and taken into custody without incident.

Michael was served the following District Court Bench Warrants:

 1. Failing to Register as Sex Offender

 2. Contribute to Condition of Child

 3. Failure to Appear (original charge driving suspended)

 4. Failure to Appear (original charge driving suspended)

Michael was also served with one (1) Circuit Court Warrant for Violation of Probation. Michael was taken before the District Court Commissioner and held without bond. Michael is being held in the Allegany County Detention Center while awaiting his next court appearance.
