February 25th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

WMAR TV is reporting that a gun reported stolen from Cumberland was used in a shooting downstate recently.

The Aberdeen Police Department responded to the unit block of Liberty Street for a report of gunfire directed at a home. On February 23, 2020, at approximately 11:41 PM police responded to the unit block of Liberty Street for a report of shots fired into a home.

Responding officers contacted occupants of the home, all of whom were uninjured. One resident described hearing four or five gunshots prior to them taking cover in a closet. Investigators located evidence of gunfire in various sections of the home. Investigators are looking into the possibility that this incident was in retaliation for a separate incident that occurred on Liberty Street on February 20, 2020 involving shots fired.

One of the guns reportedly was taken from the Cumberland area during a robbery.

Residents who have exterior cameras and live in the Swan Meadows community, Post Rd or E. Bel Air Avenue are being encouraged to check their footage on the 23rd between the hours of 11:30 and 11:45 pm to see if they observe anything suspicious.
