Rolling Mill Project Transfer on tap

The transfer of the Rolling Mill urban development project to a Frederick-based real estate company is expected to wrap up this week according to Cumberland Economic Development Corporation officials. The 6.5-acre tract in the city's Rolling Mill neighborhood is being transformed into a commercial zone with businesses planned for the site. Officially known as the Maryland Avenue Redevelopment Project, the project is administered by the CEDC.  The organization signed a letter of intent in December to sell the remaining real estate holdings to Cumberland Gateway Real Estate.   Shawn Hershberger, economic development coordinator for the CEDC, presented an update to the Cumberland City Council this week and said since the project began last year- there has been a strong level of commercial development interest expressed….
