On Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 at approximately 10:01 p.m., Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to the Sheetz Store located on Mount Savage Road, Corriganville, MD for a reported suspicious subject inside. Upon arrival deputies made contact with Chandler Tyler Thornton,(24 of Oldtown, MD), and Jennifer Nicole Moore (37 of Frostburg,MD). A warrant check of both subjects revealed an active arrest warrant for Thornton. At that time, Deputies assisted by a State Police Trooper attempted to take Thornton into custody. Thornton began to struggle with the officers in an effort to escape. Thornton's attempt to flee was unsuccessful, and he was placed under arrest without injury to him or officers. During a search of Thornton incident to his arrest, deputies located a loaded handgun in his waistband. After Thornton was secured, K9 "Suma" was deployed to sniff the vehicle that had transported Moore and Thornton to the Sheetz store. Subsequent to the K9 sniff a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. As a result of the search, Moore was placed under arrest for possession of suspected "Suboxone".
Both parties were transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending an initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner.
