Two Cumberland Men Arrested For Theft From Taxi Service

On 02/18/2020 at approximately 7:30 PM the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Henderson Avenue at Baltimore Street for a theft from a taxi service. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim and learned that money was stolen from the deposit bag belonging to the taxi service. The victim advised the suspects got out of the cab and when he went to place their taxi fare money in the deposit bag, he observed money missing. The victim confronted the subjects outside the taxi and called for police assistance. Officers identified and interviewed the suspects, Paul Gower and Mark Smith. After interviewing the suspects a search of the area where Mr. Gower and Mr. Smith were located was conducted. Officers located the stolen currency under a nearby trash bag. Mr. Smith and Mr. Gower were placed under arrest and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending an initial appearance in District Court.

 

Arrested – Paul David Gower Jr (43) Cumberland, MD

Charges – Theft over $100.00 but less than $1,500.00 and Conspiracy to Commit Theft

 

Arrested – Mark Feodor Smith Sr (53) Cumberland, MD

Charges – Theft over $100.00 but less than $1,500.00 and Conspiracy to Commit Theft
