Union Rescue Settling In At New Location

November 14th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

With the new location of the Union Rescue Mission now officially open on Franklin Street, Mission Director Pastor David Ziler told WCBC this week he is relieved to finally have the project completed that started in 2018…

“So many non-profits take money and then they don’t fulfill, and it burns people. I was thankful that I was able to deliver the product that we had been talking about all these years. The community got to see it, got to walk through it, got to sense it. Everybody we talked to was very surprised and happy with the product that was produced.”

Ziler says the old building on Queen City Pavement may go to the City of Cumberland for their use…

“We started this project with the city and if the city does want the property we want to honor what we said we would do with the city in this partnership. If they decide they don’t, then we’ll have to figure out how to put it on the market or if there’s somebody else who wants it, but our first option is to honor what we started with the city.”
