UPDATED: Five Armed Robberies Under Investigation

Local law enforcement is investigating a string of robberies and a theft which occurred overnight throughout Allegany County. The following locations were targeted:

01/19/2018, at approximately 10:30 PM, 7-11 on Maryland Avenue in Cumberland

01/20/2018, at approximately 3:30 AM, Circle K on Oldtown Road in Cumberland

01/20/2018, at approximately 5:30 AM, 7-11 on Main Street in Frostburg

01/20/2018, at approximately 5:55 AM, CoGo's BP gas station on National Highway in LaVale

In each instance a single male suspect entered the business, had his hand in his coat pocket, indicating that he had a gun, and demanded cash. The suspect used a hood and his outer clothing to try to conceal his facial features. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash from several of the businesses before fleeing on foot.

Then, on 01/20/2018, at approximately 8:30 AM, what is believed to be the same suspect entered the Sunshine Laundromat on Greene Street in Cumberland. The suspect approached a customer and asked for money. After being denied, the suspect grabbed a wallet from another customer's purse and fled the business on foot

The suspect is described as a white male, young, tall, and thin, with brown hair. Surveillance photos have been obtained by law enforcement.

The cases are being investigated by the Cumberland Police, the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, and the Frostburg Police, with assistance from the Maryland State Police and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I).
