Valentine Blames MD House & Senate For Not Restoring Highway User Funds

When the state of Maryland under then Governor Martin O’Malley implemented a gasoline tax- the plan was to have some of those revenues go toward restoring lost highway user funds for the repair and maintenance of local roads and transportation infrastructure- but to date that hasn’t  happened.  Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine blames the democrat controlled house and senate. He notes that Republican Governor Larry Hogan governor included in his budget restoration of highway user revenue distribution to the various municipalities, at their old levels, but the bill, which passed in both chambers, lost momentum in conference committee.  Valentine points to politics and partisanship by those in power against the current administration, but feels the citizens of small counties suffer the most…
